Wedding Party

Officiant

Jarrett Twamley

Fallon, NV
Jarrett has known Sofia since the first grade and has known Michael since high school, so he has a good grasp of the kind of trouble they can get up to together. The three of them have journeyed from debate buses, to amateur film shoots, to back-room poker tournaments, to quiet afternoons on Flathead Lake. After Jarrett finished his degree in Bozeman, his journey took him to the Navy and that locale that the Navy is practically synonymous with: vast deserts. Currently stationed in Fallon, NV, Jarrett looks forward to returning the the Flathead to bring together two old friends.

Maid of Honor

Michelle Tanberg

Billings, MT
The year was 1991. It all began on a particularly slush-slurry day in mid February after a high speed chase along hwy 93 and a police escort to the hospital; Sofia met Michelle shortly after. One can only hope first impressions were favorable and that any tantrums on either side could be forgiven in the emotionally charged moment. As legend has it, Michelle's long awaited arrival had been earnest in young Sofia's prayers, though it is uncertain whether she changed her mind later on when alliances shifted, decibels increased, and mothers were shared. Thank the Lord for nonrefundable little sisters. In dedication of such a monumental meeting, Sofia oversaw the construction of a giant snow walrus in the front yard to greet the newest member of her family. Michelle was deeply impressed from day one and spent the next twenty three years trying to express her appreciation. Michelle is thankful for her sister and enjoys sharing music making, fantastical designing, cooking chocolate soup and nibbling fine cheese with her. They have only just begun their shared journey and will continue onward and upwards always.

Bridesmaids

Kerra Collins

Kalispell, MT
It is said you have friends for a reason, a season, or a lifetime and I am so lucky to say that Sofia is a friend for a lifetime. We first met in high school band where we both played the clarinet. Through the many hours of band and ensemble rehearsals we became friends. We both attended the University of Montana (GO GRIZ!) for Music Education where we endured early morning practices, long days at the stadium, late nights, cram sessions, and what may be called "too many cups of coffee" though I doubt that is actually possible. I have never seen Sofia happier than she is with Michael and I am thrilled and honored that she has asked me to be a member of her bridal party.

Bridget Stepan

Ray, ND
Sofia and I met in college at the University of Montana through marching band in the clarinet section. We had lockers next to each other and our student ID cards were only one number off from each other. We were destined to be best friends and practically sisters. Our friendship really kicked off when we were sophomores as we started taking more classes together. Doodles and notes were passed as she stole all of my colored pens to pass the time in Elementary Music class. Sofia has been there with me through thick and thin and she is my other soulmate. If we could, we would dominate the world with music, laughter, coffee, chocolate and wine. Sofia was a bridesmaid in my wedding in July of 2013 and my husband, Ryan, and I are so thrilled to be a part of her and Michael’s day. I am a Whitehall, MT native and am currently in my fifth year of teaching music with three years at Ray Schools teaching 5-12 bands, choirs and guitar in Ray, ND. I am married to my amazing husband Ryan going on two years this July. We love the outdoors, traveling, cooking and working on our first house that we bought this October.

Emily Tutvedt

Great Falls, MT
Emily met Sofia in high school through Speech and Debate. They became fast friends through the crucible of Lincoln Douglas. They also enjoyed playing Clarinet in the concert and symphonic bands, as well as participating in a number of faith related activities together. At the University of Montana, Sofia introduced Emily to the Wesley House, where they both became Peer Ministers and co-led a women’s bible study. Sofia and Emily lived on the same floor of Jesse Hall and enjoyed impromptu dance parties, puns, indoor and outdoor adventures, rock climbing, and inside jokes. After crossing the dreaded continental divide to follow their respective career paths, Sofia and Emily continue to enjoy spending time with one another and many mutual friends at semiannual pizza parties and other social gatherings. This writer suspects they will be friends forever.

Best Man

Anders Lundgren

Bozeman, MT
Anders is a reasonable human working on his MS in computer science in Bozeman, MT.  He's been bothering Michael since at least 'aught-two when they escaped middle school together and started making cheap movies.  Michael was his roommate and best casting decision for several years of undergraduate study until Anders moved to Baltimore and Michael vanished into the central Montana wilderness.  Anders can be sighted locally making programs, juggling things, and watching classic cinema while doing the above.

Groomsmen

Chase Decker

San Diego, CA
At Flathead High School, Chase met Michael and Sofia on the LD Debate team. Sofia taught him to win with confidence; Michael taught him to have fun doing it. The three of them have since survived numerous adventuring parties, a week as Peacekeepers at ComicCon, and untold hours of video game hilarity. Although his travels have taken him abroad to explore Barcelona, away to college in New England, and most recently to adult life in San Diego, Chase is always glad to return to his oldest friends and enjoy their cute banter and witty conversation. Congratulations.

Jacob Jenks

Bozeman, MT
Jacob Jenks is a Computer Science student currently attending Montana State University, where he also works as a web developer for the Center for Student Success.  He has known Michael and Sofia since high school, when they began playing Dungeons and Dragons together.  Since then he has joined them on many more adventures, from concerts to Comic-Con destined road trips.
