Then, the summer she was to leave for college at UM, they went to the midnight screening of Star Wars: Episode III together. Lightsaber fights, a walk around downtown on a beautiful summer evening, epic movie music, holding hands in a darkened theater; everything was awesome and perfect. However, at the end of the summer, they broke up when she left for Missoula, because long-distance relationships are hard and make people crazy.
But the next year, Michael stopped in Missoula and told Sofia he loved her; they've been together ever since, in a mostly long-distance relationship that has tended to find an equilibrium at about 200 miles. It has been hard and made them crazy, but neither one could imagine life without the other.
Now, finally, their distance will zero out and they will embark on new adventures--in games and real life--together for the rest of their lives.
